One And One Makes Two

But Who's Counting?

Five professors presiding
Over four years of nurtured intellect.
Three letters after my name
Move me two tiers above a B.A.

And it only takes,
One man to turn me stupid.

And now for something completely different (click on strip for a better view):

Kuwaiti Men and Their Humor

I’ve been getting a lot of flack lately about my view of Kuwaiti men. I must admit, there are some things about Kuwaiti men that make my blood boil (and not in a good way). However, there’s one unique quality in Kuwaiti men that I have yet to find anywhere else in all of my travels: their humor. Most of the Kuwaiti men I’ve been fortunate enough to meet have been unbelievingly witty. They’ll throw a zinger your way that’ll crack you up before you can help yourself. I’ve been trying to pinpoint the exact science behind the ‘Kuwait Zinger’ and this is what I’ve come up with so far:

1) The Kuwaiti Zinger is usually an observation of something in the situation that no one else caught earlier.
2) It is wicked enough to strike true, but gentle enough not to cause too much pain to the victim.
3) It is always delivered with a grin and/or a kind word, usually a traditional idiom or saying.
4) The following kind word/idiom is meant to restore the victim’s dignity, and is usually successful in doing so.
5) The Kuwaiti Zinger only applies to the situation at hand which is what makes it so beautiful; it can’t be recreated or stolen.
6) Being zinged only endears the victim to others who are witness to it; it never lessens him/her in their eyes.
7) It is always delivered when least expected, but never in an inappropriate situation.
8) Once a Kuwaiti man tosses a zinger at someone, a new positive energy can be felt by everyone in that given situation.
9) Kuwaiti women are capable of zingers as well, but from what I’ve seen, Kuwaiti men perfected the art.
10) The closest thing to the Kuwaiti Zinger I’ve seen in the States is the ‘burn’ – but the ‘burn’ is very negative and doesn’t really follow most of the rules stated above.

I am always open for opinions and corrections :)
