Kuwait on Ebay Part II: This Time It's Personal

Found this on Ebay:

After reading Temetwirs 'The Game', I'm not sure whether I can be justified in complaining about this shirt.

Blogger Jan6a said...

I personally don't like it, but I guess its a personal choice.

OMG I love it and I don't see anything offensive about it.

It will be just like wearing "I desperately want to get laid. t-shirt

wait a minute, that t-shirt actually sounds good. Blunt but honest LOL

Snookie is slow, lol, but that's adorable :)

I think it's actually quite cute, but wouldn't work with all nationalities.

snookie 7abibti bayantay inich innocent o'3aglich nitheef :) I'm glad you got it eventually ;)

amunkie You've seen them before?

tata I never understood these kind of shirts - no girl is gonna jump in your pants because you have a pickup line (and a bad one at that) printed on your shirt :P

william I don't see it working with ANY nationality ;)

DR Hem intay innocent :P Like jan6a said, to each his own taste :)

Ibod True true :)

Eva hmmm?

It's kinda fun to see it online, but I wouldn't like to interact in any way with someone who wears this shirt! Especially after reading Temetwir's rather fascinating insight into Kuwaiti male thinking.

And yes, McA, I am back now, just finished writing the story :^) Thanks for checking on me!

I think it's silly and fun and nothing more. These are perfect for the cheezy bar scene and fun conversation starters. Last time I was home a friend was wearing a tee that said 'CALL ME, my number is:' followed by a block for you to write your phone number in. And he actually DID write his number in it... his OWN number. Cracked me up.

6:06 PM
Blogger ananyah said...

lool i cracked up laughing when I saw it..... maybe I just have a dirty mind but I like the tee and I want one lol i'd never wear it out in the streets!

who is selling it? *wistles*

8:18 PM
Blogger Baroque said...

hehe ;P

if i saw a guy wearing this on the street, i would be what the hell?

give it a month, and you'll see those stupid haylag wearing it on the streets not knowing what the hell it says..

OMG! have u seen the comments on tees those days?

i doubt they understand what they mean ;P

11:20 PM
Blogger Sabri Hakim said...

I think it should only be used as a pick up line for lame woman by lame men. thats what it was in the first place.

11:54 PM
Blogger Judy Abbott said...

Damn it this doesnt sound good at all!!!!

Blogger McArabian said...

QC Good to have you back and I completely agree with you :)

UE I'm not sure I'd want to start a conversation with someone who wears the T-shirt pictured above. But the shirt with the number on it - hmmm ;)

ananya It's a funny shirt, I'll admit, but yeah, not be worn in public. Some fella/company on ebay is selling it - I don't think they're Kuwaiti though :)

charisma I haven't seen many Kuwaities in the past couple of years so I'm not sure what the tren is :)
Did the girly Princess/Brat/Bitch shirts that were so popular in California for a while make it to Kuwait?

sabri Only lame women get pickup lines?

judy nope :)

Blogger 7tenths said...

Hey, maybe we're all jumping to conlclusions here, what if this is some kind of promotion for Kuwaiti Gene Therapy or something? .. (Reflects on the Kuwaiti population) .. Okay, maybe not! :P

Blogger q8Sultana said...

That's pretty creative :o)

4:03 AM
Blogger McArabian said...

KM Yeah, but have you seen anyone wear them? ;)

coquine I remember someone posted about it - can't remember who. I never watched the show so I can't tell if it was an inside joke or if they were really clueless about it :)

Laialy The link at the beginning of my post takes you to the ebay auction - and KM knows of a place in Kuwait where they might be selling them :)

7tenths LOL - yeah, maybe :P

Q8sultana :)

Sij fashla. That's all I have to say about it.

P.S. I see I am not the only one who peruses ebay looking for interesting bits of Kuwaiti oddities ;)

8:11 AM
Blogger U.E. said...

BTW, this isn't a Kuwaiti specific issue. I've seen this same shirt in different colors for a few years now and it always says something different in the place of "Kuwait". Insert the word "geek" or "American Indian" or "scorpion", etc... It's just another spin on an old joke. Tasteless and juvenile and yes, I still say, funny.

12:24 PM
Blogger Hanan said...

Temetwis' offensive anecdote distracted me from the tee. When did it become okay to think like those faisals and alis? And to have the audacity to announce that that's how you think? And do guys actually presume that when a girl smiles at them she's thinking their the potential future husband/father of children? I seriously hope the faisals and alis are an exception to the rule :/

Hehehe!! Dunno what you guys are pointing at, But I'm with tata, I like this shirt =D

This is taken from "Do you have any black in you?... Do you want some?"

Niqab - So what you are saying is that this should be printed on the back of the T-shirt, perhaps? Another popular saying at gay bars, "May I push in your stool?"

12:01 PM
Blogger Equalizer said...

OK,,,I get the message...That we Kuwaitis are superior, and everyone should want some of what we have?

Sorry I've been gone for so long folks, things have gotten a bit crazy lately.

msbaker I'm an ebay addict, I admit it ;)

UE Yeah, I think someone else mentioned that as well. And yeah, pretty juvenile :)

hanan There have always been and always will be faisals and alis in the world. I have no advice on how to deal with them unfortunately :(

nunu Heh, ok - each one has his/her own taste ;)

KM With all due respect to your best friend - I still find the shirt pretty offensive. Kafy inna most of the world thinks Kuwaities are good for nothing losers, no need to add to it.

nibaq Your guess is as good as mine.

QC Soon, soon ;)

swair That's a good healthy way to look at it :)

jazz I'll send it to you as soon as I have the check in my hands ;)

DR sorry 7abibti - things are a bit hectic. I missed you too :)

Anon Umm..eww.

equalizer Uh - yeah. That's an interesting way to look at it :P

im usually slowest in responding..but hell that tshirt is quite idiotic. i've a few generic "funny" but "sex-related" shirts..yet considering the dominant ignorance here..i doubt anyone would understand wat it implies..heh. then again..i rarely wear any of it except for lazing about the house with.

can you get some of that with a lebanese twist? i always believed kuwaitis and lebanese are the best two people in this part of the middle east.... still have to mingle with the israelis, but hey there will be plenty of time for that --- i guess

anyway, just here for a quick hello... hope u'll pass by my site and check it out, who knows maybe you would be able to find some interest in cosmic physics

Ebay has revolutionised the attitude of millions to buying on line. Yet, perhaps not surprisingly, the vast majority of material online is all about selling. Not surprising because that is where the money is made.

In my own little way I am trying to redress the balance. Please take a look at my ebay buying blog ebay buying and let me know what you think
