MP Love Part II: No Rest For The Wicked

Remember our MP who made a pass at that poor girl in the elevator? He's back for round two, and this time it's personal:

"A Kuwaiti woman, who showered insults on a former parliamentarian at the parking lot of a famous supermarket in Shuwaikh, had triggered some intriguing moments, particularly since the ex-MP, whose flirtatious advances to a Kuwaiti woman inside the elevator of Sabah hospital have made headlines few days ago. According to a report in Al-Rai Al-Aam newspaper, the woman and the politician had an affair between them, and she was infuriated when the man was seen with another woman in the parking lot, especially because the other woman was her friend." - From the Kuwait Times

I'm starting to like our failed Casanova ex-MP, he's more fun to watch than the sad Ramadan shows they've been airing this season. You can find the rest of the article (and even more DRAMA) right here. Enjoy ;)

That is the guy sole purpose! He wants you to follow his sitcom rather than the sad shows! I think he watched a couple of episodes, he got bored and depressed then decided to do some adventures ;)

The drama has taken a turn into the melodrama. It wouldn't be Kuwait without the soap operatic tendancies.

Dear McArabian,

Nobody is perfect... and guess what? He is just like the dude and the end of the street.

I kinda have to feel sorry for him. His weakness, his inability to keep it together, to be strong-willed and voice of societies moral values.

We all are human... and thus at some-point made mistakes. We try to hide our weaknesess. Shame is the hurtful feeling we get when our weakness is exposed for all to see. Those whispers, and giggling eyes of society rub our chests till we sulk in our own pain and regret.

Let us not relish in the pain of others. Let us hope instead that he still has a strong moral sense and feels the guilt it brings. Maybe he'll be able to atone for his behaviour by being a better person.

Its what we all wish for ourselves...Absolution.

bitzer I'm more amused than anything. I don't know him well enough to hate him, although from what's being reported, I doubt that I'd like him if we met.

mama fusla I think we can safely say raa7 3lai that day of fasting.

hopeless poet I'm thinking he's probably married too. Do we have any bachelor MPs? I've lost track of who's who since I've been in the States. KTV can probably make a successful sitcom for next Ramadan starring this MP...I'll definitely download that to watch.

eclectic That probably explains why I like Bollywood movies so much.

delicate and uzf At this point, I doubt it's a secret.

Dear msguided

Nobody is perfect, it's true, but I sure hope he's not like any other average joe.

He's shown himself to be a womanizer and I have no sympathy for womanizers. I have been a firsthand witness to the extent of the damage womanizers leave at their wake. I feel that womanizing men *should* be exposed to society's eyes, because they usually rely on the 'descretion clause' (ie, that relationships in Kuwait need to be kept a secret) in order to take advantage of unsuspecting women.

The same rule applies to homewreckers, or women who have affairs with married men. They won't find sympathy from me either.

Any relationship (be it friendship, or something deeper) between a man and woman is difficult enough to maintain in a place like Kuwait; womanizers and homewreckers force our society to regress back to an 'us' vs 'them' mentality - and to be frank, I'm sick of it. I want our society to reach a point where if I am introduced to a man, I can safely consider him a 'person' first, and a 'man' second.

Like I said before, I am not relishing in his pain; I am amused by his failure to be a real man. Whether he atones or not is up to him, but if they report another instance of him demeaning women, I will post it, and I will be harsh.

Respecting you sincerely,

What's up with people "defending" this guy's sorry ass?

Is he like your perv uncle or something?

When you accept a position such as "MP", there are certain rules of conduct that go along with that title...

Last I checked, scandalous affairs and sexual harassment weren't in the MP Handbook...

Oh wait..
Maybe they are...

Doesn't anyone else get it? This is a Ramadan REALITY show! They are following this guy around with cameras and going to make a mini series at the end of Ramadan!

Might as well, it seems more interesting :)

Hi Macarabian,

I just wanted to tell you that I really enjoy your blog. I find your posts and opinions quite interesting and entertaining. You are definitely an intelligent and independent Kuwaiti female voice to be reckoned with, and as a Kuwaiti woman myself that makes me very glad :)

don I was never a supporter of Clinton, either :)

amunki No need to criticize people for being the devil's advocate. I understand where Misguided is coming from, but I still don't agree with him. I agree with you, though: there's something to be said about treating your constituents with respect.

william Ramadan Reality Show - why does that send a chill down my spine? (and not in a good way).

MsB Hi and welcome :) Thanks for the compliments and encouragement. I'm nothing compared to a lot of the women I meet. Kuwaiti women (such as yourself) never fail to impress me. I'm glad you enjoy my blog just as much as I enjoy yours. :)

McA: While I appreciated Misguided's nicely presented point, I'm with ya sister-friend. While the temptation to be quiet to avoid embarrassing his family (they probably aren't pleased with actions either, no?) is strong, it's important to be vocal that his behavior shouldn't be tolerated. Silence only acts as encouragement to his type.

BTW: You've been tagged ;-)

Dear McArabian,

This response may be more specific to amunki.

I wasn't defending his action at all. Infact I find it deplorable, if you take a swing round my blog you'll come to realize that I have spoken about infidelity alot!

The point I was making was about publicly shaming him and his family. You realize there is a family involved with children etc.

That was all, I hope we never find ourselves in a predicament where we are publicly judged like that.

Finally, I just would like to say that I am as outraged as you are... and everyone would handle the situation differently. Kuwait is a gossip mill... I choose not to propogate them. I hope you'll at least grant me the choice.

unknown Good to know you agree with me. Tag goes up on my next post ;)

sailor According to what happened in the middle of May this year, you pretty much can!

Dear Misguided,

Even though I don't agree with you about propagating gossip - I do believe in the old adage "don't do the crime if you can't do the time."

The ex-MP in question was intelligent enough to convince quite a number of people to vote him into office. He should've known better than to sexually harass a girl, cheat on his wife, and make a public spectacle of himself.

Even if the elevator incident was a weakness on his part - a one time thing - being caught demeaning a woman AGAIN, that's just - wow - I have no words for that.

Most of the time, I'm in favor of discretion, but keep in mind that we're living in Kuwait - where MPs set themselves up as legislatures of the nation's ethics and morals (calling for segregation at Kuwait University is a good example of this). So if MPs have the nerve to tell me that I shouldn't teach a co-ed class because it will ruin the moral fiber of our youth, and then turn around and do shit like sexually harass women and cheat on their spouses, you bet your last Dinar I'm going to announce it to whoever wants to listen.

I feel sorry for the wife and kids if he had any, but the sins of the father/husband should not translate to the rest of the family. I believe most intelligent people would recognize this.

Ok, I'm done being angry.
Still disagreeing but still respectful,

shady I don't believe Misguided was condoning the man's actions. He pretty much agreed with us that the MP in question is scum. I believe Misguided's beef with the post is that it falls under the rubric of 'vicious gossip'.
