All I want for Eid are my two front teeth...

Being on the other side of the world, it's difficult for me to recieve local newspapers such as Kuwait Times and The Arab Times. Good thing I've got 'TEH INTRAW3B!' to help me look up local news articles on their websites, although I'm never sure if these articles actually made it to print or not. That being said, I'm posting part of Ms.Al-Fuzai's article concerning her survey about what would make Kuwaitis happy:

Most of the Kuwaitis wishes were centred on the joy of a good future and appearances.
* A villa for every citizen.
* A good job for every Kuwaiti
* Two wives.
* Higher salaries
* No to privatisation
* No to taxation
* A slimmer body
* A fastfood restaurant in every neighbourhood
* Reducing the working hours into a maximum four hours a day
* Three days off a week
* A maid for every citizen
* An unlimited bank account
* Cancelling all consumer loans (I like this one)
* Free English schools for all
* e-Government and less paperwork and bureaucracy
* New schools
* More free land for construction and development

Dear Ms. Al-Fuzai: asking a few degenerates who hang out at the local shawarma shop about their fantasies does not a survey make. Unless we really are this lazy and shallow. If that's the case, then Kuwait is in more trouble than I originally thought.

Ok, now I'm curious - are you in the States? Because, just yesterday - when reading your stuff here and on Kaleidoscope, I was thinking to myself, "Why am I not meeting women like her in real life?!?!"

Anyway, I don't understand a lot of things on this list - especially "no to privatization"

jazz Funny stuff..though a bit scary as well.

stinni Yeah, I'm currently studying in the States. Hopefully I'll be back in Kuwait within two years or so, depending on how fast I write that damned dissertation.

The privatization I think concerns opening up Kuwaiti govt. resources (such as media broadcast and the oil industry)to private investors.Valid arguements can be made for both sides in each case, so I'm never sure where I stand on these issues.

Muna Al-Fuzai3, unfortunately, describes what the average, typically-mediocre Kuwaiti man wants. Ludicrous as it may seem, it is quite close to the truth.

Now the question is, what do makes you happy, aside from your two front teeth for Eid?

P.S. Your writing is beautiful. Nothing less should be accepted from a Nina Simone fan :-)

mushmushi If that's the case, then I was probably too harsh on Ms Al-Fuzai3 when I should've criticized the average Kuwaiti man. The fact that she said "most Kuwaitis" on her report bothered me, simply because "most Kuwaitis" are probably women.

I'm not sure what would make me happy; health, wealth, and wisdom? Nah, I'll settle for a good conversation anytime of day.

And thanks for the compliment, it made my day :)

spontaneous You can never be too thin or too rich, which is why I'd rather not be either.

That's what alot of people think Kuwaitis already have... turns out some of them want that. Greed... gotta love it.

Where in the states are you studying?

hehe that may seem sterotypical but it is so0 true for most typical kuwaitis...

the only thing i want is "World Peace" hehe :P~ this line cracks me up everytime i hear it..

everyone is greedy in this so called life and everyone acts for his or her best interests..

william Greed I can understand, but two wives? I still don't get why any man would want to marry two women, isn't it difficult enough having a relationship with one spouse?

I'm currently in California, about an hour or so out of LA. They call it the 'Inland Empire.' I'm still not sure where the 'Empire' part plays into this. That being said, I love it here.

charisma such a pessimist! I refuse to believe what you say about people :P

McArabian, I've been working at a bank for the pass 4 year and have seen this first hand.

I shall start with some examples of how shallow and dull minded most Kuwaitis have become both male/female, none of the genders is excluded.

1. I get call from a lady asking if she can get a loan? I ask the following where do u work? she says I'm a house wife. I try to explain the we can provide her with a loan without a salary(source of income) after talking to here for about 5min, I ask why would a house wife need a loan and she say I have no IDEA.

Loans are been take for no reason ppl take a loan to buy the latest sports car on the market, etc.

I didn't think it would take this long to write one example so that all.....

d-sin The fact that many Kuwaities support this idea of the government dropping consumer loans says something about how Kuwatities handle money. Money-management classes should be part of every highschool curriculum.
